Senior Lead, Position Evaluation (Job Classification)
Play a key role in shaping the future of classification and job design at the City of Edmonton!<br><br>Reporting to the Director, Position Evaluation and Recruitment Services, the Senior Lead, Position Evaluation will be responsible for developing and managing a modern classification and job evaluation framework for the organization. You will lead a team of consultants who design, develop, modify, and implement job evaluation systems, frameworks, policies, and practices to ensure organizational rigor and classification equity are maintained across the system.<br><br>You are the lead expert in providing strategy, advice, and expertise related to all classification policy matters and will be instrumental in attracting and retaining talent by critically analyzing emerging classification complexities and collaborating with business leaders and union representatives to identify solutions and strategies.<br><br><strong>What will you do?<br><br></strong><ul><li> Lead the delivery of all classification, job design and position management activities for the City of Edmonton ensuring organizational rigour, classification equity and classification consistency are maintained across the system </li><li> Develop comprehensive strategies, options and approaches to respond to and resolve complex inquiries and issues from leaders and union representatives related to classification and position management matters </li><li> Design, develop and implement a new classification framework and system, which incorporates Korn Ferry Hay Methodology and evaluation tools </li><li> Consult with business partners by sharing rationale, expertise, processes and policy to build corporate understanding of classification and position management objectives </li><li> Establish and maintain internal and external networks to facilitate information exchange, benchmark data, and share best practices </li><li> Oversee and conduct jurisdiction determinations for all positions at the City, aligning decisions with labour board guidance and jurisprudence <br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications:<br><br></strong><ul><li> Knowledge, training, and/or education in Human Resources or a related field </li><li> Classification/compensation advisory experience, including leadership experience related to classification evaluation analysis and policy and strategy development </li><li> Experience in a large multi-union environment with an ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with union representatives and leaders within an organization </li><li> A combination of education and experience will be considered <br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Assets:<br><br></strong><ul><li> Completion of the Korn Ferry training program and/or working level understanding of the Korn Ferry Hay system <br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Skills required for success:<br><br></strong><ul><li> Excellent people leadership skills, including an ability and willingness to delegate and empower others, lead performance development/management, team building and facilitation and succession planning </li><li> Excellent negotiation, problem solving and conflict management/resolution skills </li><li> Proven ability to manage escalated issues with a solution-oriented focus </li><li> Proven ability to analyze ambiguous, complex and conflicting information in order to develop solutions and options </li><li> Systems thinker, with a demonstrated ability to assess and understand broad, long term implications of decisions </li><li> Understanding of complex municipal subject matter with an ability to build influential relationships with external partners, benefit providers, other government jurisdictions, and internal departments and branches </li><li> Strong political acumen, strategic planning, issue resolution and decision-making skills </li><li> Proven ability to present complex ideas to diverse audiences, build positive relationships and establish clear expectations </li><li> Service excellence, embracing diversity and promoting inclusiveness </li><li> Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) </li><li> Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion <br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:<br><br></strong><ul><li> 1 permanent, full-time position </li><li> Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
