The Gender Identity Clinic at CAMH is currently seeking a part-time, temporary (6 months) Social Worker 2 to join our specialized outpatient service located at 60 White Squirrel Way. The clinic provides comprehensive assessments for gender-affirming surgeries, time-limited support for individuals experiencing gender dysphoria or seeking assistance related to their gender identity. As a member of an interprofessional team, the Social Worker will deliver client-centered, trans-affirming care. Core responsibilities include conducting psychosocial assessments and evaluating readiness for gender-affirming surgeries in alignment with the most current World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines. The Social Worker will also facilitate group programming, manage intake, referrals, and triage processes, and provide individual, couple, and family support to those receiving services. This role may include delivering psychoeducational and therapeutic interventions using modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), or cognitive processing therapy (CPT). The clinician will maintain accurate documentation, conduct mental status assessments, monitor client responses to care, and ensure ongoing communication with both internal team members and external health partners. Additionally, the Social Worker may supervise students, contribute to public education initiatives, and participate in research or program evaluation activities. A strong commitment to reducing transphobia and fostering an inclusive, anti-oppressive, and recovery-oriented environment is essential. Job Requirements <ul><li>A Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to complete detailed reports, psychosocial assessments, and clinical documentation accurately and efficiently.</li><li>Current registration and good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).</li><li>Demonstrated competence in performing the controlled act of psychotherapy, including completion of the OCSWSSW checklist.</li><li>A minimum of two years of post-graduate experience in a mental health and/or addictions setting is required.</li><li>Experience working with transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals is essential.</li><li>Strong clinical judgment, collaborative skills, and a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in mental health care.</li><li>Familiarity with emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, substance use, and severe and persistent mental illness is considered an asset.</li><li>Advanced training and/or certification in evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, or CPT is preferred.</li><li>Preference will be given to candidates who have completed at least three years of entry-to-practice clinical supervision and accumulated 2,000 to 3,000 hours of supervised psychotherapy practice related to the interventions used in this role.</li><li>For incumbents not yet in independent practice who are required to practice with clinical supervision, CAMH, in its discretion, will pre-arrange this formal supervisory relationship with the clinical program as a condition of hire, based on capacity. </li><li>Eligibility for an adjunct faculty appointment with one of CAMH’s affiliated faculties of Social Work.</li></ul>
